I get my ultra sound on Sep 17th. I wanted to ask all you mothers out there your opinions. This one place said I needed to drink 32 ounces of water and hold it for over an hour before I go in. I am freaking out about this because I don't think I can do it. Did any of you have to do that? I might go to another place now.
What are the weirdest theories people have ever told you about whether your kid is a boy or a girl? Here are some I've gotten lately:
-if you got heartburn as soon as you got pregnant, it's a girl
-if you carry the baby low, it's a boy
-if you've been really sick, it's a girl because of the extra hormones
-and the weirdest one . . . if you take your birthdate, your husband's, and the conception date and do some sort of mathmatical equation, it'll tell you the gender . . . Uh, OK. I don't know what the equation was but the guy said it won't work 'cause our birthdays are in the same month.
So far, I've decided not to believe any of them. So what theories do you guys know?

Cassie for all that it is worth. I got major sick with my girls and sick only 1 week with the boy.
I HATE the holding of the pee for that long. I am a big bathroom goer I go before I leave to go anywere and this was very hard for me. Maybe call and tell them that you will have a problem with this and they can probably help you out with suggestions. I wanted to find out when I was preg with Dallas at 5 months. They said he was a girl. HA SUPRISE!!! I didn't even ask after that. he he

I had to do that for both pregnancies. With the first, they ran late and when I asked if I could go to the bathroom they told me I could go a little bit to "relieve the pressure, but leave most of it in." Yeah right, sounds like they never had a huge bowling ball dancing on their bladder. With Lo, I went right in but then they said my bladder was too full and I had to empty it as best I could. Even after emptying it, it was still full. It didn't matter though cause Lo didn't show her goods til she made her appearance. You will do great!
I've had to do the water for both pregnancies. The tech is usually pretty nice about letting you go pee as soon as possible. I don't think they really need to have you drink that much water, because with this last baby I threw up all the water in the parking lot of the office right before I went in. They still got every picture that they needed to get, so you do what you can.
Oh it's so hard! And then they press on your belly and you swear they are trying to push the pee out! I have no good advice - just try not to think about how much you have to pee. Bring a book, music, call me on your cell while you're waiting, anything you can so you don't have to think too much about it. I've gone in and they told me that I didn't drink enough (I TOTALLY DID!) and I had to drink even more!!! That wasn't an ultrasound for a pregnancy so I didn't have the pressure from the baby (but no fun news at any point!) but it was still rough! Hang in there, and maybe wear a pad ;)
I totally never had to drink a ton with either baby! lucky me. some people swear by the chinese calendar predictor to find out gender. are you going to find out what you are having? because waiting is fun!
Sorry Cass, It's been too long since I went through that... I guess there are good things for being so old!! But good luck and we can't wait to hear!
I totally had to do that too. The lady told me I was too full, so I had to empty some out. I really think you could get away with either drinking a little less, or drinking it right before you go. Let them know that you are extremely uncomfortable, and they will work with you there. You'll do great! I'm dying to know what you guys are having. We better get a phone call that day! Good luck!
By the way, Palin rocks!!!
Hey Cass... yes the water thing sucks. But I recommend drinking what they say b/c if your bladder is not full enough they may not do the ultrasound and you'll either have to come back after you drink more... or they do the ultrasound the alternative way. If you do not know the alternative way let me tell you... it's worth it to drink the water. ;)
Being pregnant was difficult, but SOOOO worth it! Have you felt the baby move yet?
Hey Cass, you find out tomorrow! So exciting! Please send me a text or something when you find out what you are having. For my ultra sound I drank all the water I was suppose to and had to wait in the waiting room for like an hour then right when I walked in the tech told me to empty my bladder before the ultra sound. Good times! Anyways good luck tomorrow!
